Wel well well! Time flies...I am much older than my last blog (and a mom too now) but not much wiser :-) I guess I'll just keep on learning over and over again and each time I think I am stagnating high on the s-curve...there starts another curve
My little girl is 4 months and a week old today :-)... and I am back to learning again!
I have been thinking on how exactly to catalogue/share my day to day experiences. It is only now that I thought of 'myislandinthesun'..this is a puurfect place :-)
So, folks, at four months + Niki's now
- started to rollover on her own (though attimes her hand gets stuck and she does not manage to get it free inspite of her best efforts! c'est la vie, is'nt it?)
- now she's been trying to hold the bottle on her own for sometime and finally yesterday, for the first time, she held it with her small hands
- and yes, yesterday was also karvachauth (indian festival which calls for a v strict fasting regime for the long life of your husband)..I had organised the event at our place, with all the ladies coming over for festivities, and little Nikita had a ball of time getting attention from sooo many folks
- though she's not picked-up on her eating..skinny girl she is, while her mom keeps hoping her to grow chubbier :-)

regular blogger!
i was just reading my last blogs and am suprised at what all i have written and forgotten... and much to my ammusement i saw what i had put as purpose of this blog... 'regular bloging'
bulls**t (could have written the whole thing but then i thought what if my kiddo one day happens to read this!)...
anyways, been tremendously busy lately have got some added responsibilities to my role in office..i hope one day (soon) this translates to more dough and a different title as well ;-) (...just incase my boss one day discovers this blog)... that was on work front.... but even on personal front there are 10k things happening...
i am in between maids: which means have to work at home as well! poor me..but will get a new one next week and then will get busier training the poor soul to my satisfaction (but alas will i ever be satisfied!)
waiting for the security guys to come and install the cameras @ home...will tell u the story on why we chucked our old maid and why the security camera next time... remind me, will u? ;-)

history got created
Obama officially became the first black US (democratic) presidential candidate after winning the so called "epic battle" with the other Clinton not that I think one is better than the other (what we all have is impressions and perceptions) so at the end what will be is the actual and not what we 'think' ... thats primarily the reason for my thinking that one is as good (or worse) as the other...
did you notice? or rather I just noticed that my writing style is something like that of a news reporter :( and there is another thing that I just noticed is that i am a complete mess.. i have recently realized my feeling to constantly keep on doing something or the other, as soon as I finish one thing I am already thinking about the next topic to fight/work on..is this normal? or do I seem to have a compulsive disorder of some sort to be constantly be at it (busy/working/cleaning/cooking).. am I (pause) workaholic?
I am enjoying work tremendously (at the moment) and have my plate full (just thought of checking my almost dead blog and then thoughts just kept pouring in) I am not even stopping to think (is this normal).. i am constantly thinking (i guess this is my problem?) and thats what would make me a CD candidate, i suppose. anyways, i better get back to work otherwise......

capital wiped out
Did I hear correctly? Democrats are calling for US$20b for the federal rescue plan. Dosen't this number look too less when compared to projected US$400b? A rescue plan that is 5% of the losses is laughable when there could be many billions undiscovered under the rubble.
Infact, the total loss of top half dozen banks in US alone cross the US$100b mark.
FT has some very interesting stats and maped the subprime crunch on the world map. Have a look.

Icing on the cake is the credit crunch. Will talk about it next time over.

read this today........."Knowing is not enough, we must apply." " Willing is not enough, we must do."
"Knowing is not enough, we must apply."
Really! I don't think so. Let me explain..
If one know how to kill people (even animals for that matter) should one apply that know-how? I could use a lot many exemples to explain: rape, murder, coruption, suicide... I hope you get the picture!
" Willing is not enough, we must do."
If one is willing to die does not mean that one should commit suicide.
I read this quote today and felt.. what an utterly useless quote, perhaps more useless in isolation. I mean without relevant perspective.
But then aren't most things we say useless in isolation. Unless we see things in real context it is so easy to get swayed.
I'll continue on this thread again sometime to share how this knowledge is used by many for ulterior motives.
I know you must be wondering why this post? i just felt like commenting on a quote used by someone.. just got irritated and hence this post.

Lo Hai
I am not sure of the spelling 'lo-hae' or 'lo-hai'.... whatever!
This was my first Chinese New Year when I got an opportunity to do the traditional salad tossing. "Lo-hei” (meaning tossing) raw fish salad, a very popular and must-have dish at the reunion dinner. Traditionally I am told it was eaten on the seventh day of the Lunar New Year as this day is also known as everybody’s birthday but nowadays people tend to eat it everyday of the chinese new year (ofcourse, depending on the number of dinner/lunch one gets invited to).
The list of ingredients includes:
Raw fish symbolizes increasing abundance. Salmon is commonly used
Sesame oil for a smooth year glowing with wealth
Peanut crumbles symbolizes a household filled with gold and silver (Peanuts are grinded coarsely)
Lemon or lime for a productive year
Rice crackers represents the entire floor being paved with gold
Peanuts symbolizes eternal youth
Plum sauce for a sweet life ahead (Mixed with rice vinegar, sesame oil and kumquat paste)
The rest of the ingredients to make up for this dish include shredded carrots, radish, pickled ginger, toasted sesame seeds, pomelo, cinnamon and pepper.
The key thing is to toss the salad as high as possible, high for higher wealth/happiness/luck and in general good year.
Caution: Please do not make it touch the celing 'coz you've got to eat it latter ;-)
Sad thing I forgot to click any pictures of the tossing :( will check and post it if someone clicked it.

Plain Lazy
I had started this blog with no pre-concieved notions on the content but purely as a corner to share my random blabber but on a regular basis :-)
And this blog is anything but regular!
Ofcourse not that I don't think or blabber but rather plain laziness has made me keep my blabbering to myself :-(
